Watch the Boston Bash in 43 seconds

The video opens on the brick storefront of Trident Booksellers and Cafe, then steps inside past the book tables to our Bagel Bash sign. From there it follows the morning: wristbands going on at check-in, a long hug at the door, the line for bagels at the counter, exhibitors talking with guests, cans of Levia on the cafe tables, and a packed room that ends on a thank-you card for every sponsor who made it happen.

Why a bookstore for a cannabis breakfast?

Because it felt like Boston. NECANN weekend brings the whole Northeast industry to town, and most of the rooms near a convention are hotel ballrooms that all look the same. Trident is a neighborhood institution with books stacked to the ceiling and a cafe that knows how to make coffee for a crowd. Our sign went up over the new releases, and the room did the rest.

This was the Boston return, and it kicked off NECANN weekend the way we hoped: with carbs, community and the kind of conversations that keep going on the show floor. Massachusetts operators compared notes with people from around the Northeast. Founders found their bankers, marketers found their next clients, and a few people found the cousin of someone they used to work with, which is how these mornings tend to go.

What does a cafe Bash feel like compared to a big venue?

Closer. In a beach club or a loft the crowd spreads out. In a bookstore cafe everyone is within arm's reach, so introductions happen faster and the noise level climbs early. People sat down at the cafe tables with a bagel and a coffee and ended up staying through two or three conversations instead of circling. It is a format we would happily repeat.

Thank you to the Boston sponsors

The closing card of the video names everyone who covered the room and the food. Here they are again, because they earned it.
